  • ANTI - TRAFFICKING

We’ve partnered with the Red Community in their work against human trafficking through their befriending scheme Embrace. Embrace connects women who have been trafficked with a member of the Justice team, who acts as a friend and support for women who have been torn from their homes. Our relationships with these women are integral into their connection to Cardiff and the community, allowing them to feel loved and supported in a country they did not originally choose.

  • REFUGEES & ASYLUM SEEKERS

We work with Oasis Refugee Centre to support the refugee community through two projects. The first is our coffee van training programme, which allows refugees to become barista trained on our coffee van. This training allows asylum seekers who don’t have easy access to work opportunities to train in a new skill. We also have links with coffee based charity Hope Espresso, who enable refugees to become qualified baristas, equipping them for work in this country and linking them into the Cardiff community!

  • LOVE CHRISTMAS

Love Christmas is a national initiative to help us all spread the power of love, hope and kindness. Love Christmas aims to connect with the vulnerable and isolated during what can be a challenging festive season, with churches across the nation supporting their local community in different ways. This initiative lets people know that we stand with them and for them during this potentially difficult season!

We as Citizen Church, alongside other churches in the South Wales area, distributed 4367 boxes to refugee families, single parents, and lonely students during the festive period. We want Christmas 2021 to be even bigger, helping to uplift and connect more people in the Cardiff area!

  • SENGHENYDD

We are planting a church in St Peters Senghenydd, which closed in 2017. We are aiming to breathe life into this church and develop it into a hub for the community through a variety of different community projects. Our vision for these groups include a tots and toddler group, youth support, and community programmes, all positioned to develop this church into a thriving support for the Senghenydd community.

Currently our work in this area is focused on the church building, which needs extensive building work before use. This building work is ongoing, and is a project that we would love the church to get behind, so watch this space for more information!

  • PRISONS

We currently run monthly services in Parc Prison, allowing people currently in prison to connect with the message of hope and belonging that we carry as a church. Alongside these services we also run alpha courses for people currently in prison who are wanting to explore the message of Christianity. These courses also allow us to build relationships and friendships with people currently in prison, encouraging them during their journey in prison and supporting them after their leaving.
